Greenfield, New Hampshire - Daniel M. Beard, 68, died on January 14, 2012, at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, New Hampshire.Mr. Beard was born in Boston, Massachusetts, on May 2, 1943, the son of Louise (MacDonald) and Isham D. Beard. He served in the U. S. Air Force for 23 years, serving in Vietnam, and retired in 1984 as a senior master sergeant. He then was employed for many years with the U.S. Postal Service.He enjoyed gardening, reading, and his five grandchildren.He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Mary Ann (Sullivan) Beard of Greenfield; three sons, Daniel, Jr., of Greenfield, Sean of Washington, Vermont, and Christopher of Greenfield; five grandchildren, Veronica, Kayla, Emily, Tyler, and Avery.There are no calling hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Peter's Church of Divine Mercy Parish, Peterborough; Reverend Gerald Belanger, pastor, as celebrant.Gifts in his memory may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.Jellison Funeral Home, Peterborough, is assisting the family with the arrangements.
