Lillian M. Snellman
Peterborough, New Hampshire - Lillian Margareta Snellman, 80, died on December 28, 2011, at Monadnock Community Hospital.Ms. Snellman was born in Brooklyn, New York, on May 16, 1931, the daughter of Ragnhild (Olson) and Hans Theodore Snellman. She was a graduate of Bayridge High School in Brooklyn, the Kings County Hospital School of Nursing, and St. John's University in Brooklyn. She earned her B.A. and Master's degrees in nursing and public health.She was a surgical staff nurse in Sweden for a year before joining the Bridgeport Connecticut VNA as president and chief executive officer. She retired in 1987 and moved to Haverhill, New Hampshire in 1989 she moved to North Haverhill and then in 2002 moved to Peterborough. She enjoyed music and choir singing. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Peterborough, the Peterborough Woman's Club, Monadnock Country Club and the Connecticut State Public Health Association.She is survived by her close friend of 37 years, Phyllis Porter of Peterborough; Richard Porter and his family of Bridgewater, Massachusetts; a cousin, Carolyn Arnold of Danbury, Connecticut; and many cousins in Sweden.Her funeral will take place on Saturday January 7, 2011, at the United Methodist Church in Peterborough, beginning at 11 AM. Reverend Elizabeth Davis, pastor, will officiate.
