Dan brings more than 40 years of experience in funeral service to the residents of the Greater Peterborough Region. As a youth in then small-town Fitchburg, Massachusets, in the late 1950's, Dan was introduced to the funeral business by his best friend's father, Mr. Harold Root, who owned and operated a local, neighborhood funeral home. Dan was impressed by the compassion and care he saw Mr. Root give to his neighbors and friends during their time of need. He realized that funeral home directors offer the community a very special and caring service, and he decided to dedicate his life to serving others as a funeral director.In 1962, Dan became an apprentice of the well-known Robert J. Lawler, of Boston, Massachusets. He graduated from New England Institute of Anatomy in Boston in1966 and returned to his hometown where he became a funeral director and embalmer with Mr. Root. Prior to purchasing Jellison Funeral Home from Arthur Wheeler in November of 1982, he was funeral director and embalmer at Caswell-King Funeral Homes in Worcester, Massachusetts. Dan and his wife, Audrey White, reside in the two-story accommodations above Jellison Funeral Home. Like his predecessors, Dan is a very active member of the Peterborough community and the funeral directors' community:
