Eileen Sprague Obituary

Eileen passed away peacefully at home with her family in Peterborough, NH on August 4, 2018 at the age of almost 96. Her beloved husband Sherwood R. Sprague pre-deceased her. She leaves her daughter, Karen Loudon, and son-in-law Richard Loudon, of Peterborough; and her son Robert Sprague, and daughter-in-law Rhonda Sprague, of Canton, Georgia. She has four grandchildren:  Jeffrey Loudon and his wife Kimberly Loudon; Sarah Loudon; Laurel Sprague; and Mattie Sprague. She also has two great-grandchildren:  Sawyer Loudon and Cadence Loudon. Other family members include her sister-in-law Judith Smith of Yarmouth Port, MA, three nieces, and three nephews.

Eileen was born in Pittsfield, MA on September 15, 1922, where she lived until 1964, when the family moved to Greenlawn, NY (Long Island) until 1984. A New Englander to the bone, she looked forward to when they could return to that area. Her family loved to visit Grandma and “Buddy” (or “Papa”) at their retirement home of 25 years in Eastham, MA on Cape Cod—where many happy memories were made.

Eileen enjoyed the beach, camping, knitting, crochet, cross-stitch, walking, reading, her cats, her church, and of course her family. She was a merciless hearts player. She also spent many hours at Katie’s Korner, a place on the Cape where people in need could find quality used clothing and bedding.

A memorial service will be held sometime in the Fall.
