Eleanor "Ellie" Hubbard Obituary

Devoted mother, caring wife, creative homemaker and avid gardener, Eleanor "Ellie" Hubbard passed away on May 12th, 2019, at Scott Farrar Assisted Living in Peterborough, New Hampshire, 8 days shy of her 89th birthday. She was born in Summit, New Jersey, then lived in Skaneateles, New York, all of her adult life until moving to NH in late 2017.

Ellie was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and a 60 year member of the Skaneateles Garden Club, and from these associations developed many lifelong friendships. Ellie enjoyed many volunteer activities in the community. She served as an art docent in the Barrow's Art Gallery, located in the Skaneateles Library for many years. She also was a Brownie Girl Scout leader, a driver for Meals on Wheels and FISH (Friends In Service and Help). She also was a high kicker back in the day, performing in the fun of SkaneAntics.

Ellie is survived by her husband of 66 years, Joseph Hubbard, and their two daughters, Deborah Hubbard Nussbaum of Bellevue, WA, and Jennifer Hubbard Brooks of Hollis, New Hampshire. She is also survived  by 6 grandchildren: Samantha Brooks of Harrisonburg, VA, Alex Brooks of Keene, NH, Joseph Brooks, Hollis, NH, Amanda Nussbaum of NYC, and Benjamin and Keith Nussbaum of Bellevue, WA.

A private family memorial service and burial will be held at Skaneateles Lakeside Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Ellie's favorite charities: Skaneateles Garden Club, The Humane Society, or Live and Let Live Farms, Inc, Chichester, NH.
