Raymond Turner Obituary

Raymond F. Turner, 86, of Peterborough, passed away in his home, in the loving presence of his wife, on October 3, 2018. He was born in Jaffrey, NH on June 13, 1932, the son of Leon Turner and Clara (Jackson) Turner.

Raymond was raised in Jaffrey and attended local schools there.  After finishing his enlistment with the United States Army, where he served in the Korean War and earned two Bronze Service Stars, the National Defense Service Medal, and the United Nations Service Medal, he married Cynthia (Sumner) Turner in 1956.  Together, they moved to Peterborough and raised their family.

Early on, Raymond worked at the Peterborough Basket Company, and then learned the trade of plumbing, working for RB Fish for many years.  Preceding his retirement, he drove a truck for Waste Management for several years.

In his retirement Raymond always stayed busy.   His specialty was woodworking where his projects entailed everything from cabinetry to bird houses and several small inventions and gadgets he created on his own.

He loved spending time outdoors, including many decades of camping.   He passionately loved his dogs and had a caring nature for all animals.

He is survived by his wife Cynthia Turner of Peterborough, his son Herbert Turner, and his partner Cheryl Woodward, of Peterborough, and his daughter Heidi Brooks, and her husband Steve, of Rindge and several nieces, nephews and good friends.

Raymond was predeceased by his seven siblings: Harold, Charlie, Pete, Ethel, Dot, Phyllis and June.

Per his request there will be no formal services.

Memorial contributions may be made in Raymond’s memory to the Monadnock Humane Society, 101 W. Swanzey Road, Swanzey, NH 03446.
