Eleanor E. Fillebrown, 90, of Peterborough, NH passed away after a brief illness on Monday, August 1, 2022. She was born in St. Stephen’s, NB, Canada on December 8, 1931, the daughter of Fred and Cora (Jewitt) English.
She grew up in Amesbury, Massachusetts and graduated from Simmons College in Boston. She was a pioneer for women working in the professional world, starting her career in the early 50s with RCA in Camden, New Jersey. Eleanor then took time off to raise a family in Cherry Hill, New Jersey. When her children were older, Eleanor returned to the professional world. She received an MS in Accounting from Drexel University and embarked on a 20+ year teaching career at Drexel University, Rowan University in New Jersey and University of New Haven.
Eleanor was passionate about music, as a listener, player, and teacher. You would often see her at local concerts or at her Baldwin baby grand piano. Later in life she took up painting, regularly producing pastel landscapes and wildlife portraits. Always an athlete, she played tennis well into her eighties.
Eleanor is survived by Stephen M. Fillebrown, her husband of 67 years and two children, Stephen Jr (Laura Oliver), Nancy Fillebrown (Mike Myers), and grandchildren Scott Fillebrown, Dennis Fillebrown and Mackenzie Warren.
A Memorial Service for Eleanor will be held on Saturday, August 13, 2022, at 11:00AM at the Hancock Congregational Church, 47 Main Street Hancock NH 03449. A reception will follow in the church’s Vestry. Burial services will be held privately in the family plot in Hancock, NH.
