Alverta Evelyn (Tatro) Petrovick passed away peacefully on March 30, 2025, at the High Point House Hospice surrounded by her loving children, Bruce, Deborah, and Michael. She was also the proud grandmother of Caroline and John Petrovick and Gregory and Samantha Horne and great-grandchildren, Lucy, Arthur and Grant Ellis-Petrovick and Connor and Ryan Horne.
Born in Nashua, NH on July 18, 1929, Alverta was the middle child of Roland H. and Nettie (Hanscomb) Tatro. Preceded in death by her mother and her father, her brother Roland H. Tatro, and her sister Betty Mae (Tatro) Boria. She grew up in Nashua, NH, and graduated from Nashua High School Class of 1946. and after attending nursing school in Boston at the Holy Ghost Hospital she pursued a long career in nursing for which she was well suited. She married her husband, Emil Petrovick, in 1952 and after marrying, eventually settled in Norfolk, MA, where they raised their three children. While being a devoted mother, she continued as a nurse at Norwood Hospital, served as a police matron for the Norfolk Police Department, and was active in the Girl Scouts of America local troop.
They eventually moved from Norfolk to Bristol, RI, and then to Mount Vernon, NH, followed by Peterborough, NH. Wherever they lived, they created a warm and inviting home at which we held many family gatherings. Wherever they lived, we considered that our home. They also acquired a summer cottage on Lake Maranacook in Maine and this became their summer residence. Alverta loved her time spent at the lake, and especially loved fishing for white perch which she used to make fabulous fish chowder.
Throughout her life and during their time living in different places Alverta always made deep and lasting friendships, and she considered friendship a special gift to be cherished.
