Alvin H. LaPlante, 82, died at Havenwood Heritage in Concord, NH, on January 1, 2014, after a period of failing health. Alvin was born in Winchendon, MA, on October 15, 1931, the son of Theodore LaPlante and Mirion (Stiles) Laplante.
He grew up in Jaffrey, NH and graduated from Conant High School. He lived his professional life in Carlisle and Framingham, MA, before retiring to Las Vegas, NV, with his beloved wife Miriam. While in Las Vegas, Alvin enjoyed his work at the Red Rock Canyon. After enjoying ten years in Las Vegas, they returned to the Monadnock area in 2001.
Alvin's passion was nature and conservation and he loved being outdoors, he also enjoyed wood working and photography.
Alvin's wife Miriam died in 2004; she was the center of his life.
Alvin is survived by his two sons, Marc LaPlante of Sharon, NH, and Christopher LaPlante of Shrewsbury, MA. He will also be missed by his three grandchildren Phillip LaPlante, Angela LaPlante, and Danielle LaPlante as well as several nieces and nephews.
Private services will be held for the family.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggest that memorial contributions be made in Alvin's name to www.saveredrockcanyon.com in honor of his love for Red Rock Canyon.
