Arlene Bobe, of Peterborough, NH (previously from Shelton, CT), passed away peacefully on April 17, 2025, at the age of 85, with her daughter by her side.
Born on December 4, 1939, in Blauvelt, NY, Arlene was the daughter of Artie and Helene (Murray) Ciszewski. As a young girl, she and her family moved to Brooklyn, NY, where she lived across the street from the man who would become her husband and love of her life, Joseph Bobe. They were married on November 8, 1958, and together they built a beautiful life in Connecticut, raising their daughter, Lisa Bobe Alexay.
Inspired by her mother, Arlene embarked on a meaningful nursing career, returning to school and graduating at the age of 39. She began her nursing career working in nursing homes, but it was during her 35 years in psychiatric nursing that she truly found her calling. Arlene was deeply respected by her colleagues, doctors, and patients for her compassion and dedication to her work.
In 2021, Arlene and Joe made the decision to move to Peterborough to live with their daughter Lisa, creating even stronger family bonds during their time together.
Remembered for her kindness, witty sense of humor, and the care she gave to others, Arlene touched the hearts of everyone who knew her. She cherished the moments shared with family and friends, both old and new, and will be greatly missed.
Arlene’s spirit carries on through her daughter, Lisa; her sister, Nancy Searle; and her brother, Peter Ciszewski. She is reunited in spirit with her beloved husband of 65 years, Joseph, and her sister, Marcia Winkler.
In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes memorial contributions to a charity of your choice in Arlene's name. A memorial service to celebrate her life will be scheduled at a later date.
