Curtis Madeja

d. April 18, 2015

Peterborough, NH Curtis John Madeja, 49, of Peterborough died on April 18, 2015 at Monadnock Community Hospital after being stricken with a sudden illness. He was surrounded by the love of his family. He was born on Minot A.F.B., North Dakota on September 7, 1965, the son of Joseph J. Madeja, Jr. and Sharon (Foss) Madeja. Curtis spent his early childhood in Claremont, NH. After moving to Bennington with his family in 1980, he graduated from ConVal High School in 1984. Curtis went on to attend NH Community College where he earned his degree as a Licensed Practical Nurse. He was known as a most compassionate and caring nurse to the thousands of patients he has interacted with over the last two decades in his nursing career at Crotched Mountain Rehabilitation Center and most recently at Monadnock Regional Pediatrics. Curt lived life with passion and loyalty. He was passionate about his love for sports, especially the New England sports teams and most notably the New England Patriots. He was an emphatic lover of animals of all kinds. He loved the outdoors; whether it was hunting, fishing, boating or tapping trees for sap with his children he found great joy in it all. Curt's other simple pleasures included bowling, golf, softball, Budweiser, The Grateful Dead, and "the camp". There was no greater passion for Curt than his family and friends. While he was quiet and soft spoken, he loved them fiercely and was unwavering in his loyalty to them. He will be deeply missed for his wonderful sense of humor and friendship. In addition to his father Joseph, Curt is survived by his loving wife of more than 13 years Jill Hickox of Peterborough, his son Wolfgang Madeja of Bradenton, FL, his two daughters Jacqueline Madeja and Annika Madeja both of Peterborough, his siblings Anne Marie Madeja-Whipple and her husband Jay of Claremont and David Allen Madeja of Barnstead. He will also be missed by several aunts, uncles, cousins, and nieces and nephews. He also leaves his cherished dog Milo. He was predeceased by his mother Sharon in 1974. Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday April 22, 2015 from 5:00 PM - 8:00 PM at Jellison Funeral Home, 25 Concord Street, Peterborough, NH. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday April 23, 2015 at 11:00AM at Divine Mercy Parish, 18 Vine Street, Peterborough. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Curtis' memory to The Monadnock Humane Society, 101 West Swanzey Road, Swanzey, NH 03446
