Ellen M. Dalton, 83 of Hancock, passed away peacefully at her home, surrounded by the love of her family, on June 26, 2025. She was born in Boston, MA on February 4, 1942, the daughter of Dr. Henry E. and Ellen (Buckley) Groden.
Ellen was one of 5 children including her siblings Mary J. Webb, Monsignor Michael F. Groden, Henry Groden, and her twin sister Kathleen M. Meskell, all of whom predeceased her.
She was the loving wife of 59 years, to husband William K. Dalton of Hancock, and devoted mother to Michael Dalton (Tracey), Heather Blumenfeld (Alex), Kate McPherson (Rob), Jonathan Dalton, Rory Weinberg (Darren) and Spencer “Max” Dalton (Allison). She was predeceased by her son Theodore Dalton in 2014. She was also the very proud and loving grandmother to her 13 grandchildren; Isabella, Rory, Sam and Peter Blumenfeld; Riley McPherson; Alexandra Dalton; Rowan, Eloise and Alice Weinberg, and Edward, Wallace, Spencer and Winfield Dalton.
Ellen loved gardening, summers in Scituate and attending her children’s and grandchildren’s sports games throughout the years. She was a fiercely loyal, proud, and dignified woman and nothing brought her more joy than being with all her children and grandchildren. She taught her family how to love and be loved and will be missed by everyone that had the honor and privilege to share her life.
