Grace M. (Worth) Cody, a beloved longtime Antrim resident whose warmth and creativity touched generations of students and neighbors, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 15, 2025, at the Scott-Farrar retirement community in Peterborough after a long journey with Alzheimer’s disease. She was 89.
Born in Melrose, Massachusetts, on September 7, 1936, Grace was the daughter of the late Earle and Ethel Worth. She grew up in Antrim and graduated from Keene State College, where she earned her teaching degree and discovered a lifelong passion for education.
Grace dedicated 23 years to teaching middle school in Antrim, inspiring countless young people with her patience, humor, and love of learning. Former students often remembered her encouraging words and the way she made every child feel valued.
After retiring from the classroom, Grace embraced a vibrant life of art and movement. She became an accomplished pastel artist whose landscapes reflected her keen eye for New England’s beauty. She was equally at home on the dance floor, enjoying ballroom dancing and keeping active in Jazzercise well into her later years. Friends and family recall her as someone who could turn an ordinary afternoon into a celebration.
Grace is survived by her sister, Marguerite Roberts; her five children—Jennifer, Ralph, Luellen, Joanne, and Christina; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren, all of whom will remember her generous spirit and sparkling smile.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Grace’s memory to the Alzheimer’s Foundation, supporting research and care for those affected by the disease she bravely faced. (https://alzfdn.org/donate/).
There will be no formal services at this time. A private Celebration of Life will be held by the family at a later date.
