James E. Babcock passed away at his home in Peterborough, NH on June 16, 2024. He was two weeks away from turning 94 years old.
Mr. Babcock was born in Woburn, MA, raised in Melrose, MA and graduated from Melrose High School, Class of 1948. After graduating from high school, he enlisted in the U. S. Army and was trained as a High Speed Intercept Operator.
Mr. Babcock worked as an accountant until his retirement in 1983. He and his wife moved from Malden, MA to Peterborough, NH in 1987. He enjoyed several hobbies throughout the years, including collecting rocks & minerals, art and antiques, gardening, wine making, writing poetry, and investing in stocks.
He was the husband of the late Marie T. Babcock, father of Paul D. Babcock, and his wife Elizabeth, of Wenham, MA, Laraine Daley-Genova, and her husband Arthur, of Peterborough, NH. He was a brother of the late William T. Babcock, Ellen Flannagan, Julia Swenson, & Wallace Babcock. He was the grandfather of Christopher, Kevin, Kate, Dave and Ted. He was the great grandfather of Owen, Paul, and Aurelia. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held on Friday July 12, 2024, at 11:00am at St. Peter's Cemetery, High Street, Peterborough.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society .
