James Grant

James "Jim" Grant, 75, of Greenfield, died at his home on January 1, 2014 after a decade-

long struggle against Alzheimer's disease. Jim was born in Four Mile Brook, Nova Scotia on September 24, 1938, the son of David Grant and Evaline (MacKenzie) Grant.

Jim moved to Connecticut in 1956 where he finished high school. He worked for several years before relocating to Antigua where he spent two years working for RCA. He returned to the States and served in the United States Navy on the USS Enterprise (1962-1966) before attending college in Waterbury, CT. After meeting his future wife in CT, they moved around New England for a number of years before settling in Greenfield, NH where he and his wife have resided for the past 31 yearsa€"and where Jim served as a Selectman in the early '90s. In 2001 he retired from Mosler Safe Company, where he worked for 22 years.

Jim is survived by his loving wife Mary Ann Grant of Greenfield, his son Robert Grant and daughter-in-law Catherine Fregosi of Hillsborough, and his daughter Deirdre Grant of New York, NY. He is also survived by his brothers Scott Grant of Pictou, Nova Scotia and David Grant of Jensen Beach, FL. Jim will also be missed by his two grandchildren Holden James Grant and Harper Keeley Grant of Hillsborough as well as cousins, nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 11, 2014 at 11:00AM at the Greenfield Meeting House, 7 Sawmill Road, Greenfield, NH. The Reverend Daniel Osgood will officiate.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests that memorial contributions be made in Jim's name to the Alzheimer's Drug Discovery Foundation (www.alzdiscovery.org/donate) or the Greenfield Covenant Church.
