James Edward Swarbrick, age 60, passed away after a sudden illness at his home, on April 14, 2021. He was born in Lawrence, MA on September 30, 1960, to the late James and Maureen (Hayes) Swarbrick. James was a resident of the Merrimack Valley area before moving to Francestown, NH in 2019 with his wife of nearly 40 years, Lisa (Gianetti) Swarbrick.
James was a 1978 graduate of Greater Lawrence Regional Vocational Technical School where he earned certification in plumbing and HVAC. He also graduated from the Fire Science Program at North Shore Community College. He was employed by the Lawrence School Department prior to joining the Lawrence Fire Department in 1996 where he served with great distinction. In 1998, Jim received a commendation for rescue in the Merrimack River during flood conditions. He retired in October 2018.
An avid athlete, Jim played on numerous baseball and softball teams throughout his life. However, he mostly enjoyed his position as defense for The Blindmen street hockey team. James was also an outdoor enthusiast and spent a lot of time hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, and 4-wheeling with lifelong friends in Bethlehem, NH.
In addition to his wife Lisa (Gianetti) Swarbrick, James is survived by his daughter Kara Henrie and her husband Duane and 3 grandchildren whom he treasured, Hazel, James, and Eleanor.
James leaves behind his brother Michael and his wife Maryann; his brother Daniel and his partner Deanna Melucci; his sister Kathleen Corcoran and her husband Tim; and his brother David and his wife Pam; along with 11 nieces and nephews, 2 great nieces, and 1 great nephew.
Due to COVID restrictions, a private Memorial Mass will be held at St. Patrick Parish in Lawrence, MA.
