Janet Fiedler, 83 of Peterborough, passed away peacefully at Scott Farrar on October 22, 2021, surrounded by the love of her family. She was born in Greenwich, CT, on December 3, 1937, the daughter of John F. and Mary J. (Murdoch) McArthur.
Janet was raised in Round Hill-Greenwich, a first generation of Scottish-Irish parents, achieving Registered Nurse at the Greenwich Hospital School of Nursing in 1958. She enjoyed a long nursing career in Connecticut as a school nurse and Director of Elim Park Nursing Home, and in New Hampshire in various leadership roles at Monadnock Community Hospital and Pheasantwood Nursing Home, both of Peterborough. She was a well-respected and skilled nurse throughout her forty-four year career. She was an avid musician, playing the French Horn and Baritone Tuba in her high school marching band. Hobbies included socializing , attending All Saints’ and the Peterborough Players. She was an avid athlete running, hiking, biking, and learned how to ski at forty-seven. Janet adored animals of all kinds, especially Bassett hounds and birds. She was an Audubon Society member and volunteered at the Women’s Auxiliary of Cheshire, Connecticut’s Fire Department, and at the Serendipity Shop of Peterborough, NH. She loved to travel to the Caribbean and Martha’s Vineyard, and wintered in Florida and South Carolina.
Janet loved a good joke.
Gog, to family and friends, is survived by her daughter Priscilla (Cutler) Bourgoine and her husband Lawrence Bourgoine of Peterborough, son Randolph (Randy) Cutler of Denver, CO, granddaughter Tamara (Wilder) Linkow and her husband Alex Linkow of Bedford, MA, grandson Chad Echavarria and his wife Ashlee (Whitney) Echavarria of Merrimack, NH, step-granddaughters Hilary (Bourgoine) Dillen of Dublin, NH, and Shelby Bourgoine of Hancock, NH. Gog also leaves behind great-grandchildren; Jacob and Abigail Linkow and Emerson Echavarria. She also leaves behind her second family at Scott Farrar Assisted Living facility of Peterborough. Anyone who had the good fortune of meeting Janet knew that she was a force to be reckoned! Janet will be sorely missed; she was much loved.
Her granddaughter, Valerie Echavarria, and daughter-in-law, Merideth (Whitcomb) Cutler, pre-deceased her.
A private graveside service will be held at Pine Hill Cemetery, Peterborough, where she will be buried alongside her husband Harold (Hal) A. Fiedler.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Janet’s memory to Scott Farrar Assisted Living Facility, 11 Elm St, Peterborough, NH.
