Jeanne Taylor Cook, 98, of Peterborough, passed away peacefully on March 19, 2018 at Rivermead Lifecare Community.
She was born and raised in Rye, NY. She attended Rye Country Day, Rye High School and graduated from Ashley Hall in South Carolina, in 1937. She studied at Katharine Gibbs School in New York. She lived and worked in New York and joined her father's sporting goods business (Alex Taylor and Company) where she remained for fifteen years.
Jeanne was married to Robert Cook in 1951 and later divorced. During the sixties and seventies, Jeanne lived in Ridgefield Connecticut and worked at the Famous Writer's School and The Remarkable Bookstore. She later moved to Wilton CT and volunteered at Norwalk Hospital.
In 1984, Jeanne moved to Cape Cod where she built a home by the edge of a salt marsh. She volunteered at the Wellfleet Audubon and for the Eastham Council on Aging. She loved animals and had many dogs and cats over the years. She liked the outdoors and enjoyed walking and hiking.
Jeanne is survived by her nieces Holly Taylor Young of Rockland, ME, Faith Taylor of Westport,CT, and Marcie Greenwood of La Jolla, CA., and her nephews Alex Taylor of Lakeville, CT, John Taylor of Cambridge, MD, Alex Greenwood of Titusville, NJ, Sam Greenwood of Sun Valley, Idaho, and many grand nieces and nephews.
A private burial will be held on May 12 in Old Greenwich, CT.
In lieu of flowers, donation may be made in Jeanne's memory to Monadnock Humane Society, 101 W. Swanzey Road, Swanzey, NH 03446
