John D. Carter, 71 of Peterborough, passed away peacefully at his home, in the loving presence of his wife on May 9, 2025. He was born in Medford, MA on February 2, 1954, the son of Clyde and Josephine (DeLuca) Carter.
He graduated from Lowell Technical College with Bachelors degrees in Business Administration and Electrical Engineering and worked as a Software Developer contractor. He also enjoyed auto repair and was ASE certified in several specialties. He lived in a house that he built himself along with his wife and brother-in-law. He loved taking his family to Disney World, and in his younger days enjoyed hiking and biking. Since his retirement he has been growing vegetables hydroponically on the deck, out of reach of woodchucks, rabbits and deer. He loved being Dad to his children and Nonno to his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Anna (Trembly), children Sarah Carter (Mark Carroll) of Jamaica Plain, Rachel (Brent) Chumbley of Wilton, David Carter (Nicole) of Somersworth, and Angelina Carter of Troy. Grandchildren: Joe and Abby Chumbley, as well as Madison and Gavin Carter. Also, his sisters Donna and Santina, and brothers Anthony and William.
Visiting hours will be held on Thursday May 15, 2025, from 5:00pm – 7:00pm at Jellison Funeral Home, 25 Concord Street, Peterborough, NH. The memorial service will be Thursday May 22, at 1230pm at the Presbyterian Church, 73 Main Street, Antrim, NH.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in John’s name to the Peterborough Food Bank (www.pfoodpantry.org) or World Vision (www.worldvision.org/donate)
