Joyce Taylor Belva, 85, of Peterborough, died at her home on March 20, 2015 surrounded by her loving family. She was born on August 19, 1929 in Rochester, NY the daughter of Charles Ellsworth Taylor and Josephine (Rivoli) Taylor. Joyce grew up and attended schools in Rochester, NY. She met her late husband George Mark Belva in Rochester where together they began raising their family. She moved to Vestal, NY and lived for many years before moving to Peterborough where she lived for the last nineteen years. Joyce enjoyed quilting and crocheting. She was a very active volunteer at the local elementary schools. She was a duplicate bridge Life Master many times over and was a duplicate bridge teacher for many years. Joyce is survived by her three children; George T. Belva of Vestal, NY, Maria Belva (David Vernier) of Peterborough and Susan Belva of Albany, NY; and her husband Cosimo "Chuck" Culotta of Peterborough. She will also be missed by her sister Patricia Taylor of Rochester, NY and her five grandchildren, Molly Skye Cowan (Andrew Aulbur), Asher Cowan (Marjorie), Joseph Cowan, Jessery Bengston, and Robin Bengston; and three great grandchildren, Ben and Sam Aulbur, and Amiya Cowan. Joyce had numerous nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly. She will be missed by all. Joyce is predeceased by her husband George M. Belva who died in 1990 and her sister Anita Gaiteri who died in 2013. The Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, April 4th at 1:00 PM at the Peterborough Unitarian Church, 25 Main St. Peterborough, NH. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Joyce's memory to the Joyce T. Belva Memorial Scholarship Fund of the Grand Monadnock Youth Choirs. Gifts made to: GMYC, PO Box 54, Peterborough, NH 03458. A note from Joyce's family. Mom loved hearing the children sing. She made the first blue jumpers for the Trebles and the beautiful shawls the Cecilia Ensemble girls still wear today. She always gave generously to the choir and helped send a Cecilia girl on the Concert Tour every time we went. That is what the scholarship will be used for--a girl who may not otherwise be able to travel. Mom loved to travel and firmly believed that experiencing other cultures would change your life. I believe that, too. If you have a particularly vivid memory of mom, please share. We will try to incorporate as many as possible into the service. I thank you all for your support--your kind words, your heartfelt sympathy. It means so much to me and I appreciate it more than words can express. Love to you all.
