Joyce L. Como, 75, of Sharon, died after a sudden illness at Monadnock Community Hospital on Saturday February 24, 2018. Joyce was born in Cambridge, MA on January 15, 1943 the daughter of John Drobot and Gertrude (Belanger) Drobot.
Joyce attended Cambridge High and Latin in her home town of Cambridge Mass, attended courses at Bunker Hill Community College, Leslie College and Harvard College. In addition, Joyce Lectured a course in early childhood development at Harvard. Joyce was an avid gardener, graduated from the Cass School of Floral Design and volunteered at the Lyman Estate greenhouse in Waltham Mass. Joyce put her talents to use creating an English Rose Garden and woodland plant setting at her home in Waltham Mass. Joyce worked at MIT Clinical Research Center in Cambridge Mass as the department secretary and the assistant Center data manager. Joyce worked for a period at BayBank Systems, the computer technology division of BayBank as secretary to the computer technology manager. Joyce purchased land in Sharon NH in 2001 where she and her husband built a home for their retirement years.
Joyce was a warm loving person who easily made friends with all she met. Although raised in the City she was a country girl at heart (spent occasional summers at her Uncle’s egg farm in Carlisle Mass). She also enjoyed observing the various woodland creatures who occasioned her Sharon landscape.
In the recent 9 years Joyce showered her affection on her German Shepherd Jake (her “baby” known to many in the region). In her later years chronic spinal pain would cause many broken sleep nights, on those occasions her husband would be awaken by the patter of paws and feet as she and Jake chased each other around the house punctuated by an occasional giggle.
Joyce is survived her loving husband of more than 57 years, Ronald Como; her children Ronald Como, Jr. of Natick, MA, Beverly Depiot of Bordeaux, France, and Jeffrey Como of Natick, MA as well as their families. She will also be missed by her siblings Carol Williams of Manchester, Dorothy Natsi of Londonderry, Elanor Birdsong of Ventura Ca and Denise Emus of Greenville, SC.
She was predeceased by her daughter Renee Damms and her brothers John Drobot and Robert Drobot
Visiting Hours will be held on Friday March 2nd from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Jellison Funeral Home, 25 Concord Street, Peterborough, NH. Street parking is suggested.
