Obituary

Kalena Amy Cooper, 20, of Peterborough, NH, passed away peacefully at home on June 11, 2026. She was born on August 17, 2005, in Denver, CO, but moved to Peterborough with her family in 2014. Her parents are Sarah and Morgan Cooper.

Kalena loved school more than anything and was very grateful that she could continue with the post graduate program offered at CVHS so she could be with her friends and teachers. One of her favorite things about school was getting to participate in Special Olympics (snowshoeing) and Unified Sports (soccer, basketball, and track). When walking in town or at the market, Kalena was greeted by many, as it seemed everyone knew her or knew of her. She was all about fancy dresses, sparkles, boots, and ribbon hair ties. She loved camping and the beach, but was definitely not a fan of flying insects. She loved music, could remember words of songs after hearing them once, and always sang on key. She participated in the Grand Monadnock Youth Chorus, as well as the chorus at CVHS. She loved dancing and often closed the dance floor down at weddings.

In addition to her parents, Kalena is survived by her brother Noah Cooper, and grandparents Ross and Claudette Cooper of Highlands Ranch, CO and Thomas Davol Jr. of Somerset, MA. She is also survived by her aunts and uncles: Diane & John Schick of Washington, Bill & Sara Cooper of Panama, and Tom & Christy Davol of South Carolina. She also leaves several cousins and other chosen family.

A Celebration of Kalena’s Life will be held on Friday, July 10, 2026, at 3:00 at the Unitarian Universalist Church, 25 Main Street, Peterborough, NH 03458. Please help us celebrate her love of all colors by dressing appropriately.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Kalena’s name to: ConVal High School, 184 Hancock Rd, Peterborough, NH 03458. Please make sure to write “In memory of Kalena Cooper” on the memo line. These funds will directly support Unified Sports/Special Olympics, one of Kalena’s loves.
