Maxine "Wickie" Teates

April 22, 1948 — April 27, 2024

Maxine L. “Wickie” Teates passed away peacefully, and surrounded by the love of her family, on April 27, 2024, at Spring Village at Summerhill in Peterborough.

Wickie was born in Peterborough on April 22, 1948, the daughter of Elwyn and Diane (Girard) Smith.

She was raised in Peterborough, graduating from Peterborough High School in 1966.  This is where she met Jim, the love of her life.  The high school sweethearts married in April 1967.  For a short time thereafter, they lived out of state while Jim completed his commitment to the Navy.  They returned to Peterborough, and later built their family home in Greenfield, where they remained throughout her life.

After being home to raise her kids, and care for other children as well, Wickie resumed her working career.  She joined Jim at Jim Teates TV, where they worked together for 16 years.   In 1999 she went to work as the Office Manager at Monadnock Worksource and remained there until she retired.

Aside from spending time with (and spoiling) her grandchildren and great grandchildren, she enjoyed the many motorcycle trips she and Jim made around the country.   Her last ride began in New Hampshire and took them through Arkansas and Oklahoma, to the Grand Canyon, and north into Canada before returning home after 5 weeks.

In addition to her husband of 57 years, James Teates of Greenfield, Wickie is survived by her two daughters, Lisa Cuddemi and her husband Chris, and Tracey O’Neill and her partner Eric Scott; three grandchildren, who were the absolute lights of her life, Natasha Iannopollo and her husband Cosmo, Chelsea Sawtelle and her husband Benjamin, and Brooke O’Neill; three great grandchildren, Lillian and Cosmo Iannopollo, and Sofia Sawtelle; her two sisters Allison Cabana and husband Roger, and Denise Sullivan; along with her loving nephews and nieces.

A Celebration of Wickie’s life will take place on July 11th from 1pm - 4pm at the American Legion Post 11, 20 Webster Street, Jaffrey, NH.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Wickie’s name to the Monadnock Worksource, 9 Vose Farm Road #150, Peterborough, NH 03458.
