Obituary

Patricia Balfour (Aytoun) Ingelstrom died at Spring Village at Summerhill in Peterborough, NH on August 21, 2026. She was 91 years old; born on November 25, 1934,in Amherst, NH. Pattie, as she was always known, was the fourth daughter of James B Aytoun and Ruth Carkin. Pattie graduated with the class of 1952 at Peterborough High School and attended Keene State College. She enjoyed working with young students. Pattie married classmate, Carl Ingelstrom, on February 6, 1960.

Following Carl’s employment and their moving to Essex, NY, Pattie served on many local boards, including the local school board. She gave her time to town libraries and historical societies as well.

After Carl’s retirement, they moved back to their farm, Crotchety Farm, in Greenfield, NH and indulged their love of animals, particularly by spoiling their pet cows. Wild animals were always welcome, too, as Pattie would gain a chipmunk’s trust, sitting on her lap and letting her pet it. Moving back to the area allowed Pattie and Carl to renew old friendships and create many new ones.

Pattie is survived by two daughters, Melissa Carson of Peterborough and Juliana Morgan and her husband, Steve, of Duluth, Minnesota. She is also survived by grandchildren, Eddy (Jessica) Morgan, Carrie (Aaron) Barfels, Bob (Jamie) Morgan and 8 great grandchildren. She also leaves 2 nieces and 1 nephew, Jeri (Rick) Canfield, Gilda (Ed) Goodrich and Jim (Dawn) Smith. Pattie is pre-deceased by her husband, Carl and 3 older sisters, Marie, Naomi and Nancy.

Pattie’s family would like to thank the staff and residents at Spring Village at Summerhill for their compassionate care and friendship. We would also like to thank Sharon and the staff from Hospice at HCS for their skill and kindness through this past year.

Donations, in Pattie’s memory, can be made to the Harris Center for Conservation Education, 83 Kings Highway, Hancock, NH 03449. Services will be held Friday, August 28 at 2pm at Union Congregational Church, 33 Concord St., Peterborough, NH.
