Ralph Lester Shattuck, age 88 of Peterborough, passed away peacefully, after a brief illness at Lowell General Hospital on January 10, 2022. He was born in Pepperell, MA on January 30, 1933, the son of Ralph and Mildred (Lohnes) Shattuck. He was predeceased by his wife Jeanne (Noyes) Shattuck in 2017.
He served in the military during the Korean War. He spent his early years working for Shattuck Oil. A master plumber, he founded Countryside P+H with 2 partners in the early 1980’s. However, he is best known as the longtime owner of “Ralph Shattuck Plumbing and Heating” in Peterborough NH.
He loved to fly with his friends out of Silver Ranch Airport in Jaffrey NH. An avid Ultralight owner, he stored and flew out of there. Ralph was well known and had many friends in the area. Wells Beach was his favorite vacation spot.
Ralph is survived by his children Dale Shattuck and his wife Marion, Steven Shattuck and his wife Charlene, stepchildren Denise Hunter Smith, Susan Hunter Elliott, Robin Hunter Monaco, and Bradley Mark Hunter and his wife Patricia. He will also be missed by many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his son Ralph “Butch” Shattuck, his brothers Fred, Roger, Dana and sister Jean, his stepsons Scott James Hunter and Kerry Andrew Hunter, and his daughter-in-law Sharon Shattuck.
Visitation will be held on Sunday January 16, 2022 from 1:00pm – 3:00pm at Jellison Funeral Home, 25 Concord Street, Peterborough, NH. Burial will take place in the spring at St. Peter’s Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Ralph’s name to Lowell General Hospital or American Lung Association.
