Robert W. Bryer, 74, of Hancock, passed away peacefully at his home after a very long illness, while surrounded by the love of his family on June 14, 2018. He was born in Peterborough on February 11, 1944 , the son of Herbert Bryer and Doris (Stacy).
Robert “Bob” was raised in Antrim and lived there until 2001 when he moved to Hancock. He graduated from Antrim High School with a small graduating class. He went on to learn the construction business working for area builders and eventually became manager of Concepts Inc. in the 1970’s, building many homes in the Peterborough area along with larger commercial buildings such as Pheasant Wood Nursing Home and Eastern Mountain Sports. He owned his own company Young and Bryer Construction in the 1980’s and when construction started to decline changed hats and worked for a large computer company in Billerica, MA. He worked for Eastern Mountain Sports building and designing stores around different states, and later as maintenance manager, until he retired in 2011. Bob was an excellent builder with extreme attention to detail.
Bobs one big passion was his gun club, Pinnacle Mountain Fish & Game Club in Lyndeborough, NH where he was a lifetime member. He loved target shooting and in his time was an excellent precision shooter. In healthier times, he loved hunting with his boys and friends and fishing with his grandkids as much as he could. Bob loved anything to do with nature. Every Wednesday morning that his health allowed, he would be at Simards Gunsmithing Shop in Dublin having coffee with friends.
In addition to his loving wife of 41 years, Jerilyn (Wilson) Bryer, Bob is survived by his children, Robert W. Bryer, Jr., and his wife Pat, of Claremont; Carmen Desmond, and her husband John, of Charlotte, NC, Todd Buffum, and his wife Connie, of Waterbury, VT, Scott Buffum, and his wife Erin, of Peterborough, and Derek Buffum of Peterborough. He is also survived by his sister Nancy Douglass, and her husband Jim, of New York. He had 10 grandchildren; Amanda, and her husband Verlin, Robbie, Olivia, Cameron, Connor, Christian, Zoe, Tucker, Peyton, Cole; and two great granddaughters, Savannah and Braelyn. He will also be missed by several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his beloved son Christopher X. Bryer, who died in 1988 in an automobile accident, and his brother James Bryer, formerly of Stoddard.
Memorial visiting hours will be held on Saturday, June 30th from 2pm – 4pm at Jellison Funeral Home, 25 Concord Street, Peterborough, NH. Funeral services will be private.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Bob’s name to Pinnacle Mountain Fish & Game Club, 289 Cemetery Rd, Lyndeborough, NH 03082.
