Obituary

Robert G. Koch, 81, of Peterborough, passed away peacefully on June 28, 2026. He was born on May 4, 1945, in the Bronx, New York, to George and Margaret (Philbin) Koch. Rob graduated from Cardinal Hayes High School. He then attended Columbia University, Nathaniel Hawthorne College, and Lesley University. He was a proud United States Air Force veteran and later served as Director of Outreach and a professor at Franklin Pierce University before his retirement.

Rob had a lifelong passion for the performing arts. He was a longtime member of the Peterborough Players and a founding member of Actors’ Circle Theatre. His dedication to the theatre earned him a Lifetime Achievement Award in recognition of his involvement in 65 theatrical productions as an actor, director, and producer.

He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, whether fishing, gardening, traveling, or delighting the community by portraying Dracula every Halloween for more than 30 years. A dedicated volunteer, he was passionate about giving back to his community. He was a member and president of the local Kiwanis Club, proudly portrayed Uncle Sam in local parades and community events, and most recently served on the board of Reality Check. His generosity, community spirit, and willingness to help others left a lasting impact on everyone who knew him.

In addition to his beloved wife of 58 years, Judy (Middleton) Koch of Peterborough, Rob is survived by his son, Christopher Koch, and his wife, Claudia Koch; his brother, Kevin Michéal and spouse Sé Ronayne, and many extended family members and dear friends. He was predeceased by his parents and his two brothers, George Koch and Douglass Koch.

Memorial visitation will be held on Saturday, July 4, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., with a memorial service beginning at 11:00 a.m., at Jellison Funeral Home, 25 Concord Street, Peterborough, New Hampshire.
