Peterborough, NH Ruth Elizabeth Carr, age 91, of Peterborough, died on Sunday, April 19, 2015. She was born in Peterborough, the daughter of Arne and Martha (Cramatte) Olsen of Dublin. She attended Peterborough schools and the University of New Hampshire. During WW II, she worked for General Electric in Schenectady, New York and Boston. In 1946, she married Francis H. Carr. He died in 2002. Ruth worked for Sim's Press and, for many years, for the Peterborough Savings Bank. During her years in Peterborough, Ruth enjoyed many wonderful friendships and recalling all of the changes that had taken place in town. The oldest member of Monadnock Country Club, she played golf through last year's season and played bridge year round. She volunteered at All Saints' Parish Serendipity Shop since its founding. In recent year's she was also a member of the Peterborough Women's Club. Ruth is survived by her son, William Carr and his wife, Gail of Rumney, her daughter, Diana Nelson and her husband, David of Lawrenceville, NJ. She will also be missed by her grandchildren; Melanie Smith and her husband, Jeffrey, Bethany Carr, Alexander Nelson, and Sarah Nelson, her great-granddaughters; Emily and Allison Smith, and her sister, Nancy Raymond of Englewood, FL. Per her wishes, there will be no visiting hours. A memorial service will be held at Pine Hill Cemetery on Saturday, April 25, at 1:00 P.M. Friends are welcome to gather at a reception that will follow at Reynolds Hall, All Saints' Parish. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Monadnock Country Club, 49 High Street, Peterborough, NH 03458 or the Peterborough Historical Society, 19 Grove Street, Peterborough, NH 03458.
