Stephen M. Fillebrown, 94, of Peterborough, passed away peacefully on November 3rd, 2024, after a brief illness. He was born in Waterford, ME on May 24, 1930, the son of Walter W. and Charlotte (Morse) Fillebrown.
Stephen grew up in Waterford, Maine, and graduated from the University of Maine in 1951 earning his Bachelor of Science in Engineering. He also attended the University of Pennsylvania. Stephen was a United States Army Veteran serving in the mid-1950s. He led several research and development projects for large companies and the United States Army. For most of his career, he worked for RCA in Camden, NJ, and Telesciences, Inc., of Moorestown, NJ, where he was Vice President of Engineering. Stephen retired in 1992.
Stephen had several diverse interests outside of his work. He was an accomplished wood turner, discovering his passion at only 12 years old and dedicating his time to boundless craftsmanship. Earlier this spring, Rivermead held a show for Stephen’s work and sold many pieces he created. Stephen has been a member of the New Hampshire League of Craftsmen since 2000. At various points in his life, he was a photographer, painter, and musician. Stephen played tennis well into his 80s.
Stephen was predeceased in 2022 by his wife of 67 years, Eleanor (English) Fillebrown.
Stephen is survived by his two children, Stephen Jr. (Laura Oliver) and Nancy Fillebrown (Mike Myers); grandchildren Scott Fillebrown, Dennis Fillebrown (Brenna Curley), and Mackenzie Warren.
A Memorial Service for Stephen will be held on Saturday, November 16, 2024, at 11:00 AM at the First Congregational Church of Hancock, 47 Main Street Hancock NH 03449. Burial services will be held privately in the family plot in Hancock, NH.
