Sylvia B. (Lougee) Southwick, 98, of Peterborough, passed away peacefully at Catholic Medical Center, Manchester, on July 20, 2025. She was born on May 25, 1927, in Torrington, CT, to Glen and Mary (Gray) Lougee.
Sylvia was raised in Hillsboro, New Hampshire, and lived on a farm with her parents, Glen and Mary Lougee, sister Virginia Burnham, and brother Roy Lougee. She worked at the Hillsboro Wollen Mill, Brookstone, and New England Business Services. Sylvia married Larry Southwick (husband) and moved to Bennington, New Hampshire, in 1957, where they built their home and raised their family.
Sylvia's sense of humor was loved by many, and she was determined to live independently as long as possible. She enjoyed nature, wildlife, dogs, dancing, hiking, and bike riding.
Sylvia is survived by 3 daughters: Cheryl Rockwell, Bonnie Nielsen, and Lorrie McLean, 4 Grandchildren: Courtney Fulmer, Nicole McLean, Jenny Southwick, Jason Southwick, and 15 great-grandchildren.
Sylvia is predeceased by: Larry Southwick (husband), Kenneth Southwick (son), Michelle Willett (Grandchild), Michael Willett (Grandchild), Virginia Burnham (sister), Roy Lougee (brother).
A Celebration of Life will be held at Jellison Funeral Home, 25 Concord Street, Peterborough, NH, on Thursday, August 7th, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM. A reception will follow the service at Beepa & Lulu's, 180 Concord Street, Peterborough, NH 03458.
