William "Bill" C. Orme II, 90, of Peterborough died February 21, 2017 at Pheasant Wood Center. Born in 1926 in Cambridge, Ohio, he and his twin were the youngest of five children. Bill attended local schools, then Mercersburg Academy in Pennsylvania, graduating in 1944. He immediately joined the US Navy and was a Quartermaster on D.E. Forster for two years. After his discharge he enrolled at Ohio State University, graduating in 1951 with a Ceramic Engineer Degree. He worked in his family's Cambridge Glass business until it closed in 1958. Hired by G.E. in sales, he and his family settled in Chagrin Falls, OH. He retired from G.E. in 1987 and soon moved to Peterborough, NH where he married Gretchen Mann. Bill easily became active in town life as he played Senior Men's golf at M.C.C., and served on the board. Bill and Gretchen traveled and cruised to interesting places, spent winters in Englewood, FL enjoying visitors, attended several Navy reunions with loyal mates and enjoyed the company of their children and grandchildren. Bill is survived by his three daughters: Pamela Wasylik of Niantic, CT, Melinda Orme of Pittsburg, PA and Dr. Jennifer Zavaleta of Durham, NC. At Bill's request there will be no funeral service. A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date. Bill's ashes will be buried in the family plot in Cambridge, OH in the spring.
