William Joseph "Bill" Norris

August 17, 1966 — September 7, 2025

William Joseph “Bill” Norris, 59, passed away on September 7, 2025. He was born on August 17, 1966, in Springfield, MA, to William and Ann (Cuzzone) Norris.

Bill was a 1985 graduate of Chicopee Comprehensive High School. He was the owner of Norris Demolition and worked as a truck driver for various companies throughout the years. He also moonlighted as a bartender at both the Earl J. Sanders VFW Post 754 in Amherst, MA, and the Michael F. Curtin VFW Post 8006 in Florence, MA.

For many winters, Bill volunteered to cook breakfast on Sunday mornings at Craig’s Doors, a homeless shelter in Amherst named after his childhood friend, Craig Lorraine. He also lent his culinary talents to spaghetti supper fundraisers and cookouts, and volunteered his time to support events at local veterans' organizations.

A lifelong fan of the Rolling Stones, Bill attended their concerts whenever he could. He was an avid sports enthusiast who loved gathering with friends both at the Holyoke American Legion Post 351 and Amherst Legion Post 148 to watch a game. He especially enjoyed spending time in New Hampshire with the Elliott-Beauvais family, listening to the UMASS radio Polka show, and savoring a good cigar with coffee and a newspaper in hand.

Bill will be remembered for his larger-than-life personality, his generosity, and the warmth he extended to friends and strangers alike.

Bill is survived by his wife, Michelle DeWolf-Norris; his sisters, Judy Norris of Belchertown and Jennifer Norris of Nashua, NH; his nephews, Josh Avery and Zachary Chevalier of Chicopee; his niece, Brianna Reyes of Nashua; his cousins Scott Cadieux and partner Teresa Barut of Easthampton, extended family including Frankie Cuzzone of Colorado; and Shannon and David Izatt, Kaela, Olivia & Hunter LaDouceur of Wilbraham and dear friends Brian & Holly Serewicz, Michael Rogali, and Justin Robinchea.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, September 21st, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Olde Hadley American Legion Post 271, in Hadley.

Memorial donations may be made to Craig’s Doors, 434 North Pleasant Street, Amherst, MA 01002.
