Dr. John "Jack" Evans Obituary

Dr. John K. Evans, age 82, went home to the lord surrounded by family on January 12th, at his home in Sharon NH, following a brief illness.  Jack was born in Concord, NH on July 12, 1940, the son of John W. Evans and Madeline (St. Lawrence) Evans.

John who was known as Jack by all of his friends and colleagues, is survived by the love of his life Dot, to whom he was married for 61 years.  Jack is also survived their four children and spouses, Kellee Gargan (Evans) and husband James, Scott Evans and wife Sue, Lance Evans and wife Michelle, Ryan Evans, and wife Amy; his 9 grandchildren Tyler, Ashley, Heather, Megan, Ross, Paris, Lucas, Penelope, and Gabriel; as well as his 6 great-grandchildren, Caden, Lucas, Stella, Magnolia Fae, Abigail and Victoria…with one more little sprout on the way.

Jack grew up in Enfield, NH where he excelled in high school athletics.  He attended the University of Notre Dame, the University of NH, St. Anselm’s College, and Boston University, earning an undergrad degree in Business, a master’s degree Economics and a PhD. In Education. Jack worked in the technology industry for a few years and then transitioned into education as a college professor.  Jack led a long and successful career as a professor of business at Southern New Hampshire University for 33 years. Over those years he had an impact on many young adults and was beloved by staff and students.  Jack was an avid sportsman who loved to hunt, fish and be outdoors. He took great pleasure in maintaining the large, beautiful yard at his home in Sharon, that he shared with the local wildlife, including his own personal flock of turkeys, who would visit him and Dot daily demanding to be fed.  As Jack moved into retirement, he cherished having his grandchildren over to take rides on his John Deere tractor. He also developed a love for photographing wildlife.  His framed photos hang in the homes of his children and the local restaurant Brady’s, that he and Dot frequented often.
