Lillian Power

Lillian M. (Russell) Power died in Peterborough on August 19, 2022. She was born in Providence RI, the daughter of Charles and Lillian (Blackburn) Russell.

She graduated from Central Falls High School in Central Falls, RI. She graduated as a registered nurse from Roger Williams General Hospital in Providence RI. Her nursing career took her to Cincinnati, OH and then to Peterborough, NH where she was on the staff of Monadnock Community Hospital, serving in many capacities.

Mrs. Power joined the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority in 1982 and has been an active member since. She was honored as Woman of the Year by the sorority in 1984. Mrs. Power loved to quilt and was one of the founding members of the Monadnock Quilters Guild. She was also honored by the New Hampshire Heart Association for her work as a Basic Cardiac Affiliate Instructor.

She is predeceased by her husband, Melvin C. Power, her parents, and sister Norma. She is survived by her niece Janice Girouard of East Providence, RI as well as many other family members.

A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday August 23, 2022, at 10:00 AM, at St. Luke’s Anglican Church, 3 Limbo Lane, Amherst, NH 03031. Burial will follow at 12:30PM at Mount Auburn Cemetery, 580 Mt Auburn Street, Cambridge, MA 02138.

In Lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or the American Heart Association.
