Matthew Rickey-Hale

October 28, 1985 ~ February 16, 2022 (age 36)

Obituary

Matthew William Rickey-Hale, a resident of Peterborough NH, passed away on Wednesday, February 16, 2022 at the age of 36.  He was born in Greenfield, MA on October 28, 1985, the son of William Hale and Michelle Rickey. Matthew attended grade school in Greenfield, and later transferred to Kindle Farm School in Newfane, VT, where he earned his high school diploma.

After high school, Matthew relocated to Virginia, where he lived for many years. There, he worked for a tire service company, where he helped run the shop and worked as a mechanic. Following his time in Virginia, he returned north to New Hampshire to be closer to family. He worked for Ji-Cal Masonry, in Rindge, NH, as a construction laborer. Most recently, Matthew was a valued employee at Form-Up Foundations in Rindge, where he worked as a Rod Buster alongside his “Unk”, Uncle Jason.

Matthew was a loving and caring father, son, and brother. There wasn’t anything he wouldn’t do to help someone. He was a genuine, giving and protective friend to all. He had a passion for lifted trucks – he and his brother enjoyed attending truck drag races together. He also loved mudding, 4 wheelers, and video games.

Matthew was predeceased by his father, William J. Hale in 2017, his maternal grandmother, Elizabeth Pecor in 2014, and his maternal grandfather, Edward W. Rickey Sr. in 2021 and his aunt Sherry Hale in 2021.

Matthew is survived by his children, Dominic, Maddasin  and Jordan and their mother Laura Dunn; his mother Michelle Rickey; his brothers, Michael Rickey and Vincent Hayes; his sisters, Ashley Rickey-Hale, Mercedes Hayes and Gretchen MacNeil; his step-mother Susan Campbell; his uncles, Edward W. Rickey Jr., “Unk” Jason Thayer and Louis Hale; his aunts Gloria Jardine, and Sue and Lisa Wickline; his great-aunt Francis Devine; his great uncles Ronald Pease, and his wife Laurie, and George McDonald.   Matthew also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
