Raised in Wellesley, Steve attended Rivers School, Weston, MA and Cornell University.  He enlisted in the Army and was deployed to Vietnam.  Following his service, Steve went to work for the town of Wellesley and started his fire fighting career in 1969.  Steve married Susan Bowen in 1970 and together started their family.
