One of my early mentors in business life, David was foremost a gentleman, and notably, a very focused boss. He opened opportunities for me at the beginning of my career and provided terrific guidance in so many ways. We developed a mutual mutual respect and admiration over 10 years. He is remembered
with fondness. His spirit lives on - he visited in a vivid dream that woke me this morning. My deepest condolences to his family .

Message from Harry Davison

The entire Davison family extends their condolences and shares in your grief at the loss of one of the truly great men in our lives. Our fathers were best friends for decades starting at Groton and through the rest of their lives. They served as trustees of Groton at the same time, and played off each other in these meetings to great effect, making them both productive and enjoyable. There was a memorable assembly in the schoolroom in our (Nelson Howe & Harry Davison) 3rd form year when the trustees were introduced to the students before the first class. David stood up and introduced himself as a senior member of management at American Thread, and that speaking for himself and for his industry he was glad to see we all had clothes on that morning. The roof almost came off the School House as the entire student body burst into laughter, and The Rector's portrait fell slightly off-kilter at the remark, but it was such a great way to humanize the role of a trustee that it left a great impression on us.

David was a frequent and repeat guest at the Peacock Plantation, where he would shoot quail and walk with our father in the companionship of great dogs. He loved the outdoors, and did so much to help us all understand the concept of environmental stewardship. We should ever strive to live up to his example.
